Explode Your Headphones Vol 2 - Free Download!
This month we got twelve new mp3s for you. Remixes, original tracks, and non-stop megamixes can all be found in our new mixtape: Explode Your Headphones Volume 2. Download or stream the entire album from the downloads section.
We dropped one download every Monday, over the last twelve weeks, resulting in thousands of downloads and a YouTube honour of #41 Most Watched – Music Canada. We wanted to say thank you to everyone for staying up with all the music and helping us achieve this rating.

Back Down - Party Rock Remix - Music Video!
JUNO-Nominated Vancouver Band Releases Debut Music Video with MMA Champ.
Vancouver, BC – Canadian hip-hop group A-SLAM have collaborated with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Gurdarshan ‘Gary’ Mangat for the release of A-SLAM’s debut music video entitled “Back Down”.
The fast-paced video features A-SLAM showcasing their music talents alongside Gary Mangat, the first Sikh featherweight to hold an MMA belt, showcasing his athletic talents. In addition to sharing a hometown of Vancouver, A-SLAM and Gary Mangat united for the “Back Down” music video under a common thread of pursuing one’s dreams. While A-SLAM is trying to break in to the music industry, Gary is on his own mission to fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and to become the first Sikh UFC fighter in the process.
A-SLAM is a JUNO Nominated artist, DJ, and production team who specialize in “fusion Hip-Hop”, mixing the popular genre with South Asian, Latin, and Electronic influences. In addition to opening in Canada for some of the biggest names in urban and South Asian music including Jay Sean, Fat Joe, Apache Indian and Raghav, A-SLAM have toured Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and even performed for over 40,000 people at Ottawa’s 2011 Canada Day celebrations.
After feature appearances on major Bollywood releases in India including “Twist and Shout” by Taz and “American Desi” by DJ Sanj, A-SLAM’s debut album, also titled “Back Down”, will be released later this month. As for the single, “Back Down” showcases music by DJ ExxQuiZiT, vocals by “E.V.”, Reminisce, Nick Thalari, and FAZE. The video was shot and edited by Sun Gill. A-slam on CBC, NEW SONG from SEIZ, and DJ EXX Nominated for clubvibes awards!!
We would like to say thank you to everyone who came out to support Ottawa Winterlude's first ever South Asian night. Winterlude asked E.V. to DJ this special night. The event was such a success that the organizers might bring A-slam back for Canada Day so stay tuned! CBC News also featured the night. Check out the clip on our Official YouTube Channel.

The first is E.V.'s new DJ video. Check it out:

And the third single, Apple Bottom Jeans, features new Canadian singer/song writer Avtar Rai. Avtar and a-slam recently toured with Juggy D and Mumzy. Check out that video too, all linked below.

A-slam Fans we need your help! Please let us know where it is that you hear new South Asian music. Which radio stations are in your city that play South Asian music, what your favorite web sites are to check and download new music from, and which channels or sites you watch new music video's on. Lastly, if there are any big South Asian Festivals (or Mela's) in your city, what they're called and around when they are. You can message us directly through the Contact page.

New track and video this month called Would You Wait. The song is about prostitution, and was inspired by Trisha Baptie. Please check it out in the downloads. And the Would You Wait Video is on youtube, and also in the mini player above. Please rate and comment. The song features Shivangi and contains voice clips from activists in the field: Michelle Miller, Trisha Baptie, and Annabel Webb. The beat was done by DJ ExxQuiZiT.

East Van makin' some noise
The new a-slam website is nearing completion, so definitely watch for that. The biggest thing for March is happening Sunday March 6th. It's this month's Hot N Spicy. We will be djing and Danny Fernandez will be live on the mic. The Second thing for March is the 19th, SFU's first desi pub night, hosted by the Punjabi Culture Club. Generation of Healing - Canadian Cancer Society & Cops for Cancer fundraiser - Mar 13
A fundraiser for children with cancer to further help in treatment of cancer in kids. The fundraiser will take place at Bombay Banquet Hall. More details can be found on our Faecbook event page.
